The M32 Nucleic Acid Extractor is a flexible and highly efficient system for automated nucleic acid extraction in the 96-well format. The instrument is based on the proven principle of magnetic particle separation, and it delivers high yields and high recovery rates with excellent purity. Designed as open system the M32 Nucleic Acid Extractor provides maximum flexibility, on one hand for convenient use with pre-filled Katsura extraction kits, on the other hand suitable for use with other available magnetic bead-based extraction solutions.

The easy-to-use software of the M32 Nucleic Acid Extractor facilitates a library of 20 extraction protocols, which saves time-consuming configuration steps, and allows for highest operational efficiency, from 1 – 32 samples per run. Simply add samples to the extraction plate and select the protocol, and the instrument provides high purity eluates in 20 – 50 minutes, dependent on sample type and protocol used.

Key technology


The M32 Nucleic Acid Extractor utilizes magnetic separation technology that is based on the use of metal rods, transiently magnetized by an electromagnet.
The isolation of nucleic acids is achieved by binding to highly specific magnetic beads. The magnetized rods transfer the magnetic beads through the different process steps, avoiding any potential sample cross-contamination by not transferring any liquid. The rod is moved repetitively after deactivation of the electromagnet, leading to efficient and homogeneous resuspension of the particles during the sample resuspension and the subsequent washing steps. The process results in high yields of pure nucleic acids and low levels of fragmentation of the nucleic acid molecules, suitable for all types of downstream applications.


For the use of the M32 Nucleic Acid Extractor with other magnetic-bead based extraction consumables, 96-deep well plates and carriers for single-sample extraction are available.

Software Control


The software of the M32 Nucleic Acid Extractor is designed for easy and intuitive touch-and-go operation. With the capability to store up to 20 extraction protocols it provides the instrument maximum flexibility across a wide range of applications, without cumbersome configuration steps. Simply select the protocol from the library after samples are loaded, and the instrument is ready to go. The screen display keeps you up-to-date on the progress through every step of the extraction, and the built-in USB port enables data import/export as well as easy-to-handle- software upgrades.
